To measure for size. go all the way around the snout just past the nostrils. this will be the snout size.

Selecting the right muzzle for your dog:

    1. Use string (or a fabric tape measure) to measure your dog's snout, just behind the nose. The muzzle must not be tight.
    2. Place your forefinger just under the string to ensure enough space for your dog to be comfortable-don't tighten the string, it should be free to move around the dog's nose.
    3. Lay the string along a ruler to determine your dog's nose circumference. Find the corresponding size according to the size chart below-if it is not an exact match then take the nearest size.
    4. Fit the selected muzzle on your dog. Check the fit by running your finger inside the nose band. Your dog must be able to pant and have free tongue movement. Better a little too loose than too tight!

MEASURING YOUR PET FOR A COAT ~ CLOTHING

We often get questions from customers as to which size is right for their pet. Whilst we with gladly offer information and advice ultimately, this decision has to rest with the customer for a number of reasons.

The accurate sizing can only be made if the actual pet is measured.

Mainly because pets of the same breed may differ and have different sizes based on weight, height, length and so forth. The same dog apparel will fit dogs of different breeds and same weight differently. Pets also differ according to breed. Also manufactures sizes vary for example, a certain breed may fit a small for one manufacturer, but may be an extra small for another

You must measure your pet when it is standing up.

You won't get accurate measurements if the dog is sitting or lying down.

Weight should be used as a guideline only as it will not give an accurate length or width.

DOG COATS ~ HOW TO MEASURE FOR A COAT

Certain breeds e.g. greyhound, or an over or underweight dog may need a custom fit. There are two measurements that need to be made in order to get the correct fit.

For the length, one of the most important measurements, measure the backbone of the dog from the base of the neck to the start of the tail. That's the start of the tail ---not the very tip. Just the base of the dog's back where the tail starts.

Start the neck measurement where the collar would sit naturally on the pet's back.

Also measure around the chest 1/2"behind the front legs. This is the thickest part of the chest. This measurement is often referred to as the girth. Remember that this may vary by breed.

Remember to check dog size against individual product items.
